Fix SVGs with no name
An SVG without a name is either silent or announced as a graphic.
A cart icon with no name is just an image.
Steps
- Decide if the icon is meaningful.
- If it is, add a title or visually hidden text.
- If it is decorative, hide it.
Failing example
A cart SVG with no title inside an empty button.
Better example
The button contains the text Cart.
Shopify
In Shopify icon snippets, add visually hidden text next to meaningful SVGs and aria-hidden on decorative ones.
WooCommerce
Do the same in WooCommerce icon templates.
WordPress
Name meaningful SVG icons in WordPress themes.
Wix
In Wix, set the accessible name on icon buttons rather than leaving the SVG unnamed.
