Fix a missing skip link
Without a skip link, keyboard users tab through the whole header on every page.
Repeated navigation is a tax on every journey.
Steps
- Press Tab on a fresh load.
- The first stop should offer Skip to content.
- It should become visible when focused.
Failing example
The first Tab stop is the logo and there is no skip link.
Better example
A skip link moves focus to main.
Shopify
Add a skip link as the first focusable element in Shopify theme.liquid, pointing at the main content id, visible on focus.
WooCommerce
Add the skip link in the WooCommerce theme header.php.
WordPress
Restore the WordPress theme skip link if a child theme removed it.
Wix
Do not cover the top of a Wix site so built-in skip controls cannot be reached.
