Fix a missing page title
A missing document title means the browser tab and screen readers have no useful name for the page.
People with many tabs open cannot tell the product page from the cart.
Steps
- Read the title element.
- Make it unique per page.
- Include the page topic and the shop name.
Failing example
Every page title is Home.
Better example
The title is Stoneware mug | North Shore.
Shopify
In the Shopify theme, keep a title tag that prints the page title and the shop name. Fill any SEO title you overrode with a blank.
WooCommerce
Check the WooCommerce product and an SEO plugin are not outputting an empty title tag.
WordPress
Give the WordPress page a title and keep a single title element via title-tag support.
Wix
In Wix page settings, set the SEO title so it is not left as a placeholder. Include the product name.
