Fix heading order
Heading order is broken when levels skip, for example from a level 1 heading straight to a level 3.
People who navigate by headings cannot tell what is a section and what is a subsection.
Steps
- List the headings in order.
- Do not skip a level to get a smaller font.
- Use CSS for size.
Failing example
The page jumps from h1 to h3.
Better example
The page uses h1 then h2.
Shopify
In the Shopify section settings, set the heading level so collection titles are h2 under the page h1. Do not pick a level only to shrink the type.
WooCommerce
On WooCommerce single products, keep the product name as h1 and description sections as h2.
WordPress
In the block editor, change the heading level instead of using a lower level for a smaller look.
Wix
In Wix, set the text to the next heading level. Do not skip from Heading 1 to Heading 3.
