UserWay alternative
A UserWay alternative, if you want the code changed, is a scanner plus a theme edit. That is AltGrade. It is not a toolbar.
Toolbar versus template
Toolbar products add controls on top of the site: text size, contrast filters, a reading aid. Some visitors use those controls. They do not fix an empty link, a missing label, or a price that fails contrast for everyone else.
AltGrade reports the empty link and the label. You change the template. The next visitor gets the fixed page without opening a panel.
What to look at in a comparison
Look at a product page, not a feature grid. Is the add-to-cart button named? Is the photo described? Does focus show? Can you tab the menu? A widget demo can hide those questions. A scan answers them.
We do not restate another vendor's pricing or private feature list. The category difference is enough: overlay on the page, or changes in the page.
A practical trial
Run the free AltGrade scan on the live store. Open the top five issues. Fix one in the theme, such as the cart button name or the sale-price colour. Rescan that URL. The score moves because the DOM changed.
If you are an agency, the £199 Agency plan covers 25 sites and white-label PDFs. A single store can start with the £49 audit or £19 a month monitoring. No tax is added.
Keep one limit in view
The scan finds what the rules can see. It will not judge a brand film or a confusing checkout flow. Fix the list, then walk the purchase with a keyboard.
That is the whole pitch. Findings, steps, a date. No widget install.
A comparison you can finish this week
Open the product page with the keyboard only. Tab from the logo. You should reach a skip link, the menu, the photos, the options and the add-to-cart control. If a control is skipped, a toolbar on top of the page will not insert it into that order.
Then check contrast on the price and the button label with the free checker. If the ratio is under 4.5:1 for normal text, change the colour in the theme. A filter the visitor must turn on leaves the default page as it was.
AltGrade's free scan shows the top issues in about a minute. The £49 audit adds the PDF. Agencies put their own name on reports from £199 a month. You are comparing a fix list with a widget menu. Pick the one that changes the template. Then publish the theme and scan the product URL again so you can see the finding drop.
Do that on the live product, not a staging theme nobody buys from. If the finding is still there, the edit did not ship. Check the published theme, not a draft, and scan once more. Repeat for the cart URL if the menu is a different section. The product fix does not always cover the header. Ship the header in the same pass.
Questions
Do you replace a toolbar I already installed?
We do not uninstall other products. We show the template fixes. You can remove a toolbar when you no longer want it.
Is this only for Shopify?
No. Shopify, WooCommerce, WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow and BigCommerce steps are in the report when the platform is recognised.
What does it cost to try?
The first scan is free, up to 10 pages. Paid plans are on the pricing page.
What does the scan miss?
Automated scans cannot catch every WCAG issue. Use the list, then have a person try checkout.
